Game one started with the Lancs girls showing no sign of “jet lag” and within the first 5 minutes they had shot into a 4 goal lead. The Scots girls looked sluggish and slow but gradually pulled themselves together and by the half had got the deficit back to 3, with 5-8 the score. The second half saw the Scots grind away the lead but all the extra effort needed to overcome the English girl’s flying start began to tell and in the final 10 the Lancs girls found their range again and ran out comfortable winners by 10-15.

The Scots had no answer to the power shooting of E Carrick, N Quick, B Cattle and K Reader this combined with fine defending from S. Jenkins, C Sumner, K Barchri and F Woodall and tireless wing work of L McGuiness and N Ekanoye saw the English side run out worthy winners. Last but not least Goalkeeper F Hollows was immense at a time, midway through the second half, when the game was in the balance she made vital saves which gave her team mates a massive boost at a vital time.
